Sponsored by the Heian-Jingu Shrine, it is said to include the most spectacular of the parades in Kyoto's autumn festivals. Jidai Matsuri literally means "Festival of the Ages," and the marchers are dressed in costumes which were worn by nobles and ordinary people down through the ages during which time Kyoto was the capitol of Japan. |
